P.H.A.S.E. Act for Poll Workers

Policy Proposal

Our policy asks Congress to classify individuals who have served as poll workers as preference eligible employees in the federal hiring process, a classification modeled with veterans or sole survivors. By raising sole survivorship from zero to two points, poll workers are placed just below sole survivors within preference of federal employment with one additional point added to their earned rating in their civil service examination, above all other non-veteran applicants. This preference would serve as encouragement for individuals, particularly younger workers or those seeking to enter the federal workforce, to sign up to be poll workers by rewarding them with an increased chance of securing federal civil service employment.
