Penn Political Union
The Penn Political Union, GPA’s oldest branch, hosts formal debates for all students to observe and participate in

Debates
PPU hosts a variety of student debates. In the past, students have formed political caucuses ranging from Progressive, Liberal, Centrist, Conservative, Libertarian, and more, but also often opt not to create formal factions. Students formulate arguments and discuss resolutions with one another in structured debates.

Event Engagement
Some GPA events involve direct discussion/debate with speakers rather than, or in addition too, a Q&A format. If a GPA event involves this style, PPU members will often be the ones engaged in that debate, or will at least have priority to do so over other members of GPA. Additionally, PPU members are also the first GPA members consulted to participate in semesterly all-parties’s debate.
